Creating on the basis of everyday paraphernalia

"You are crazy", said a colleague of Olle when he saw that he was about to make a silver hat. "You cannot make a living on that...."

During a period of time without any commissioned work Olle Ohlsson sat wondering what he was about to do next. He says: "Suddenly, I saw my old hat from 1949 which had been fetched down from my mother's attic and brought to my studio at Urvädersgränd. When I also looked out on the bridge over to the Katarina lift and saw men and women go past with their hats, I decided to devote my time to these headgear some years to come. Thus, the hat collection began to take shape and I started with my own aforementioned hat."

"If you get the idea to create a hat in silver people think you are just playing a bit for a while", said Olle Ohlsson. "However, if you really are determined to make a full collection of various kinds of hats, it shows that you have had a thought with it all and been serious."

The hat collection, which took four years to produce, has made great success and also been joined by a collection of sticks with decorative stones and later on shoes. The closet attributes are accomplished!
